FAQ - Routing

How did PGE develop its proposed and alternate corridors?

PGE has been working on route development since 2007. While PGE’s routes will be refined throughout the project, PGE is committed to routing Cascade Crossing to avoid and minimize impacts to landowners and the environment wherever possible. That’s why most of the proposed route parallels existing transmission corridors.

PGE conducted the following activities to inform its initial routing process:

  • Reviewed applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Mapped potential routes using geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Discussed potential routes and issue areas with federal, state and local agencies.
  • Used feedback from agency staff to refine the routes.
  • Presented preliminary routes to the public in October and November 2009.
  • Applied public feedback to further refine the routes.

Throughout the state and federal review processes, PGE will keep the public informed on the status of routing, as well as have staff available to meet with stakeholders to discuss siting options.
