10/06/2011 - White House names Cascade Crossing to federal pilot program

The Obama Administration announced that the Cascade Crossing Transmission Project has been identified as a Job-Creating Grid Modernization Pilot Project. The designation allows for streamlined federal permitting and increased cooperation at the federal, state, and tribal levels. The program includes projects, like Cascade Crossing, which create jobs, modernize the electric grid, and make more renewable and cost-effective energy sources available to consumers. 05/17/2011 - PGE has Begun Field Surveys and Engineering Studies

PGE and its contractors have obtained Permits of Entry from many private landowners and have begun conducting field surveys and engineering studies on properties located within the Cascade Crossing proposed study corridors. Granting permission to enter private property does not mean the property owner is consenting to grant a future easement or that a transmission line will be constructed across that property. PGE will not enter private property to conduct surveys unless it has appropriate authority to do so. Find additional details in the Field Surveys and Engineering Studies FAQs.


05/05/2011 - ODOE Issues Project Order

The Oregon Department of Energy has issued the Project Order to Portland General Electric. In preparing this Project Order, the ODOE reviewed and considered PGE's Notice of Intent from May 2010, public and agency comments received on the Notice of Intent, as well as other discussions with involved agencies and PGE. PGE will use this Project Order to inform and prepare their Application for Site Certificate. Learn more about the ODOE-EFSC process.


03/03/2011 - PGE-hosted open house on March 10 in Boardman

Portland General Electric will hold an open house Thursday, March 10 at the Port of Morrow conference center in Boardman, Oregon to discuss several upcoming projects, including the Cascade Crossing Transmission Project. Learn more in the full press release.


02/17/2011 - PGE and BPA Agree to Discuss Mutual Interests in Transmission Projects

PGE has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bonneville Power Administration that allows the two utilities to coordinate planning of new electrical infrastructure and to consider joint development. Find additional details in the full press release.


11/29/2010 – PGE requests permission to access property

PGE is requesting permission to conduct a range of field activities on private property within the study corridor. Find additional details in the Working with Private Landowners FAQs.


10/28/2010 – Public scoping summary now available

The federal summary of all comments received during the scoping period is now available. The summary also describes public involvement efforts during the scoping period and comment collection, processing, and summarization methods.


08/03/2010 – State and federal agencies public scoping comment period closed

The ODOE-EFSC and federal agencies (led by the U.S. Forest Service) will review all comments received and/or postmarked by the August 2, 2010 deadline. Comments will be included in ODOE’s Project Order and the federal agencies’ Scoping Report. Comments received after the close of the comment period will be reviewed and included at a later stage in the federal and state review processes. Future comment periods will be announced.


07/08/10 – State and Federal Agencies’ Wrap-up Meetings and Encourage Public Comment

The ODOE-EFSC and USFS have wrapped up five public meetings held in communities along the proposed project. These agencies encourage the public to comment and will accept comments through August 2. If you weren’t able to attend a meeting or would like to view the information presented at a meeting, materials and maps are available on the Documents and Maps pages.


06/01/10 – Comment Period Extended

Due to a delay in publishing the project’s Federal Register Notice, the public scoping comment period will now end on August 2, 2010.


05/28/10 – Public Comment Period Now Open

The public scoping comment period for the Cascade Crossing Project is now open. The state and federal agencies encourage you to participate in the upcoming public meetings and to submit comments. Comments must be submitted by July 27, 2010.


05/25/10 – Participate in the Upcoming Comment Period and Public Meetings

The ODOE-EFSC and USFS will be hosting a public comment period beginning May 28 through July 27, along with public meetings in late June throughout the project area. This is an opportunity for you to provide feedback on the proposed project.
